According to Teamtalk, Arsenal are prepared to sanction the sale of Ben White this summer if a suitable offer for the services of the versatile defender arrives. Also, it would require a replacement to be secured, and to that end, the Gunners have stepped up their interest in Wesley Franca and become the latest club to join the race for the services of the AS Roma right-back.
Wesley attracted plenty of attention playing for Flamengo at the FIFA Club World Cup last summer, and Roma acted most decisively at the time. However, his displays in Italy have been closely monitored by the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City, Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton – and obviously Arsenal.
In all competitions, Wesley has 35 appearances for the Giallorossi, as well as four goals and two assists to his name. Unlike White – a defender equally capable of performing at right-back and centre-back – Wesley is frequently deployed as a wing-back in Roma’s 3-5-2 system, and he can play on both flanks, even he prefers the right one.
