Fabrizio Romano has reported that Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali is unlikely to return to Serie A in the summer transfer window due to the fee that the Magpies would demand for him.
The well-known and well-respected Italian journalist said on his YouTube channel: “My understanding is that Sandro Tonali back to Serie A is something that could happen maybe in the next years, maybe in two, three, four, five years, I don’t know.
“But for this summer, summer 2026 is considered as something absolutely impossible.
“Why impossible? Because Newcastle would ask for big money and it’s very difficult for Italian clubs to pay I don’t know 90, 100, 110 million euros for a midfielder.
“That would be really complicated. Tonali is a special player but for Italian clubs, financially, that would be almost impossible.
“And also, my understanding is that Sandro Tonali would like to continue in Premier League. Sandro Tonali is happy at the highest level possible in terms of league, and Sandro Tonali would be happy to continue in Premier League.”
