Crystal Palace want Iraola to replace departing Glasner

With Oliver Glasner leaving at the end of the season, Crystal Palace have chosen Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola to take the reins at Selhurst Park, according to Football Insider.

Like Glasner, Iraola has confirmed departure from his current club this summer in search of a new challenge some time ago, and speaking to the press after his team’s emphatic victory over Palace on Sunday, he said he would like to see his players play in Europe next season. The Cherries are in a strong position to make that happen, sitting sixth in the Premier League rankings with 52 points. Even a place in the Champions League cannot be ruled out mathematically yet, though that does not appear realistic at this point.

The reasons for Palace wanting Iraola are pretty clear, but the Eagles will be aware that Chelsea are also considering the 43-year-old as a potential solution after a turbulent season saw both Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior get sacked at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, reports elsewhere say that Bayer Leverkusen are also monitoring the situation closely.
