According to Teamtalk, Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race for the services of Jan Paul van Hecke ahead of the summer transfer window. The possibility of the transfer will, of course depend on whether they manage to maintain their Premier League status for next season.
Chelsea and Liverpool have both made enquiries about the 25-year-old defender and are prepared to invest in his arrival, but in North London they believe they hold an important card up their sleeve – manager Roberto De Zerbi, who knows Van Hecke very well from his spell in charge of the team at Brighton and Hove Albion. Liverpool will, on the other hand, consider his connection with Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Jeremie Frimpong and Cody Gakpo at the Netherlands national team as a strong argument too.
Van Hecke is regarded as one of the finer defenders in the Premier League, with potential to develop further. In 37 appearances across all competitions this season, he has three goals and three assists to his name, but his main strength is, of course, his ability to deal with opposition attackers, even the top ones.
