The end of the contract binding Marco Senesi to Bournemouth is in its final months, and according to Talksport, the 29-year-old centre-back is currently exploring his options for the near future. There is interest in his services in Italy and Spain – namely from Juventus and Atletico Madrid – but also within the Premier League, where Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are said to be keen.
For Spurs, much will depend on whether they survive in the English top flight, after dropping down into the relegation zone thanks to their defeat to Sunderland and West Ham’s triumph over Wolves. Senesi is apparently not open to the idea of playing in the Championship under any conditions.
Manchester United’s situation has been made a little easier with Harry Maguire signing a 12-month extension, but they’re still looking at potential heart-of-defence reinforcements. Chelsea were interested in Senesi in January, but they’re not likely to pursue a deal in the summer, believed to be looking for a player of a different profile to partner Levi Colwill. Some believe Liverpool might enter the race too, but there has been no movement at Anfield on that front so far.
