May 9th: Saturday’s Bundesliga Double – 5/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

With the penultimate round of Bundesliga fixtures getting underway this weekend, we have a stacked Saturday schedule from across Germany’s elite.

With this year’s Champions League race going right down to the wire, we have a string of season-defining showdowns pencilled in.

For those of you looking to stick on a Saturday flutter, we have taken a glance at some of Saturday’s most attractive Bundesliga betting tips.

14:30 RB Leipzig vs St. Pauli

Starting with the hosts, watching their extended purple patch come to a thumping end last time out as they slumped to a 4-1 drumming away at Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig will certainly be seeking an immediate response here. Nevertheless, despite putting in a downbeat display last weekend, Ole Werner’s men can officially punch their lucrative Champions League return on Saturday afternoon. Signing off April with a stellar 3-1 victory at home against Union Berlin, the Red Bulls have enjoyed a stellar domestic campaign. Heading into March’s international break with a remarkable 5-0 romp against Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig have won each of their other five Bundesliga appearances. It should also be noted, the German giants have lost just a pair of their last 13 straight top-flight showdowns. Likewise, Werner’s side have also gained a fearsome reputation for their extended dominance on home soil. In fact, Saturday’s hosts have won all of their previous four consecutive showdowns at the Red Bull Arena by an aggregate score of 11-1.

As for the visitors, while St. Pauli might still mathematically be clinging to their Bundesliga status, the Neighbourhood Kickers are rightfully already planning for life back in Germany’s second-tier. Last seen falling to a 2-1 loss at home against Mainz, Alexander Blessin’s side are six points adrift of safety heading into the penultimate showdown of the campaign. More than aware that they are seeking what would be considered as an all-time miracle, age Hamburg-based outfit have continued to show a string of glaring issues. With their struggles underlined by a 5-0 drumming at the hands of newly-crowned champions Bayern Munich on April 11th, St. Pauli have collected just three points from any of their last eight consecutive Bundesliga appearances. Heading into March’s international break with a 2-1 defeat at home against Europa League finalists Freiburg, Saturday’s guests face another monumental challenge here. Given what has been a huge gulf in class between Saturday’s opponents, it is almost impossible to see anything other than a routine home victory this weekend.

14:30 Hoffenheim vs Werder Bremen

While Hoffenheim might have found themselves at the heart of a public relegation scrap last season, Christian Ilzer’s side have cemented their spot as Germany’s ultimate surprise package this time around. Despite suffering a late collapse last time out as they eventually had to settle for a thrilling 3-3 stalemate against Stuttgart, the Blues have rightfully received a string of plaudits from across the continent. Mustering seven points from their previous three Bundesliga appearances, the former Strum Graz boss will be smelling a golden opportunity here. Opening Saturday’s showdown with just their goal difference keeping them outside the Champions League spots, Hoffenheim are rightfully installed as a standout contender this weekend. Signing off April with consecutive 2-1 victories against Borussia Dortmund and Hamburg, Ilzer’s side should also be excited by their clinical performances in the final third. Notching nine goals in their last four Bundesliga showdowns, the Champions League chasers have also suffered just a sole defeat in front of their own supporters since back in February.

Although Werder Bremen might have secured a much-welcomed 3-1 victory at home against Hamburg, it appears that was just a minor boost for Daniel Thjoune’s struggling squad. Last seen falling to a 3-1 loss at the hands of Augsburg, the River Islanders have drastically failed to find any kind of stability. Despite officially retaining their Bundesliga status for another campaign, Saturday’s guests have shown some real defensive issues. Marking their return from March’s international break with a 2-1 defeat against RB Leipzig, Werder Bremen have mustered just a sole clean sheet from any of their last eight appearances. Facing what looks set to be another stern examination this weekend, they should also be concerned by a nightmare record against Hoffenheim. Including a 2-0 loss when they welcomed Saturday’s hosts to the Weserstadion for their reverse showdown back on January 27th, they have lost all of their previous four consecutive meetings by an aggregate score of 9-1.
